The annual Almond Leadership Program Golf Tournament returns Thursday, May 15, at Dragonfly Golf Club in Madera, bringing together members of the almond industry for a day of connection, competition and giving back. Proceeds from the event benefit California FFA student scholarships, helping young people pursue education and careers in agriculture.
This year’s tournament is co-chaired by 2025 Almond Leadership Program (ALP) participants Kiki Sandrini of Chandler Automation and Evan Koftinow of RPAC, LLC, who are combining their passion for agriculture and event planning to lead the charge.
“It’s a good day to golf and give back,” said Sandrini. “You’re not only connecting with others in the almond industry — you’re helping the next generation of farmers succeed.”
Sandrini, new to the sport herself, jumped at the opportunity to co-chair. “I just picked up golf, so I thought it would be a great chance to learn from Evan, who’s a golf extraordinaire,” she laughed. “Plus, I love event planning, so it was a natural fit.”
Her co-chair agrees. “I’ve been playing golf my entire life,” said Koftinow. “But more importantly, this is a great fundraising opportunity for California FFA. Supporting future agriculturalists and providing them with the tools and knowledge they need — it’s a big deal.”
The tournament welcomes players of all skill levels, with options to sign up individually or sponsor a team. Breakfast and lunch are included, and sponsorship opportunities remain available. “We’ve got plenty of ways to get involved,” Sandrini said. “Even if you don’t have a full team, come out, play a round, enjoy some great food, and support a great cause.”
For Sandrini, the event is personal. Raised in Bakersfield and surrounded by agriculture, she knows the value of programs like FFA. “It’s about giving back and keeping that pipeline strong,” she said. “Whether students are passionate about ag or just curious, it’s our job to support their journey.”
Both co-chairs say the tournament is more than a fundraiser, it’s a community experience. “There’s always good conversation and great people,” Koftinow added. “Come out and hit ’em straight!”
